We spent the week between Christmas and New years with my mom and brothers and their families at a beach house near Santa Cruz. We had our requisite family drama, but nothing too bad considering we were all living in one house for a week! And it was really a wonderful time to reconnect with everyone and for Caroline to get to know her cousins. Thanks, mom, for helping make it happen!
We did lots of fun stuff- we went to the boardwalk, the monterrey aquarium, the beach, and more. A couple of friends came to see us there, and Mike and I took the girls down to San Luis Obispo one day and up to San Francisco another to see more folks. It was so fun to introduce the twins to everyone, and for Caroline to play with our friends kids who are the same age.
It wasn't exactly the restful vacation I hoped for. Someone said, vacation with young kids isn't vacation... it's relocation. That's pretty much how it felt. All the same work and chaos, just in a different place without all of the tools that make it easy. My mom and sister-in-law Kristin were both really helpful with the babies (my brothers, also, on rare occasion :) ), but still- just so much work. Regardless, even if it wasn't restful- it was enjoyable!
ARG- photos not updating- will post those later!
