Pesto and Playdates weekend

Last weekend was a fun one! On Friday night, we had our friends and former neighbors- Jen, Liz, Doug, Esa and Dek over for dinner and play-time. It was so fun to reconnect with them. Caroline loves playing with Esa!

On Saturday, Mike went to the Badger game with his dad while I went with Jane and the girls to their CSA farm. We got to pick all the basil we wanted and take it home to make pesto. We got the twins in the stroller and rolled around the farm. Caroline had fun picking raspberries and feeding the goat they have there. It was only a little annoying when she decided she didn't want to walk back, but we were trying to push a stroller and carry loads of basil, so it wasn't so easy carrying her as well... Anyways, we made it out and made it home and made 12 tons of pesto and made the car and the house and everywhere in between reek of basil! What a fun day! Oh, and we stopped to have a little picnic and visit a fantastic shoe store on the way back. Caroline is over the moon about her new Dora Crocs.

Sunday I had a massage in the morning (So needed, and let's be honest... so deserved :)!) and then in the afternoon we had some friends over. Anna, Langdon and Eliza, who we hadn't seen in far too long, along with some new friends- Siyamo and her mom Helen, who we met at the park near the zoo last weekend and who are new to Madison. So the kids played for a couple of hours and then we had a lovely dinner that Anna and Co. brought over. I am so appreciative of all those dinners from friends. Especially now that they're mostly done, since we realize what a handful it is trying to cook dinner and watch 3 kids at the same time. Even with 2 people it is hard to manage, since that's the girls cranky time of day.

Baby holders take over! Love it!
But we returned the favor!

And with Dek

From our trip to the Vermont Valley Farm:
Caroline picking out tomatos (we would have picked from the vine, but they sprayed some organic fungicide on there, so they didn't want us to do that)

Caroline meets the goat

And tries to feed him with Nana's help

Caroline samples the goods.... mmmm! Basil tastes good!

Nana gets down to business

Joe and Mike, still in their badger gear- Joe went to work plucking leaves

Does this look tasty or what? We made FIVE batches this big! We'll be eating pesto until we're green!
