Mom's Carmel Birthday Celebration

For my mom's 60th birthday, she got together a bunch of her girlfriends and invited them to a fabulous beach house in Carmel. I was so glad to be able to join them.

I left Mike at home with the kids- he was a trooper to take them on his own for so long (though his parents pitched in, of course!) I love and adore my children, but it was such a retreat to have a break from the day-to-day chaos and really, truly relax. It was a real vacation, for once.

We had a really wonderful time- daily walks on the beach and thru the adorable neighborhoods of Carmel. There are all of these cute little cottages (all worth several million, so not your average cottage), and a fabulous little downtown area with dozens of shops. We got pedicures and massages, bought face masks and bath bombs at Lush to enjoy at the beach house, and indulged in fabulous food. Really, it was a little slice of heaven.

We celebrated mom's big day with a cake and some presents. I put together a book with letters and drawings from the kids and grandkids, plus loads of photos. And we got her a few other little things. Her friends got her a very generous gift certificate to a jewelry store she likes, so she'll enjoy that!

What a wonderful time!
