Mother's day weekend in NYC

So we had a great trip to NYC last weekend and celebrated mother's day there (and my birthday, a little early). We stayed with our friend Priya, who is always such a fantastic host- she cooked us the most amazing Indian dinner and vegan chocolate mousse pie. On Friday we walked around the city, visited Mike's friend at City College and had dinner with friends Mike and Ellie. Saturday we had a picnic in Central Park with a big group of our friends- a very convenient way to catch up with lots of folks at once. The weather had been a bit spotty earlier, but it was nice in the end. Caroline was a crack-up, flirting with everyone and eating like mad. She got ahold of a tomato and ate almost the whole thing like an apple. It was pretty funny. Sunday was a great mother's day. I was woken up with breakfast in bed and a sweet card, home-made by my husband and sweet daughter (we look forward to increased participation on her part in future years!). Then the three of us went on a walk in Fort Tryon park near the Cloisters- the magical spot where Mike proposed. Then we had picnic #2 of the weekend, this time with Priya and her pups on the bank of the Hudson river. It was nice, but absurdly windy, so it didn't last too long.
