Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas with Mike's family in Madison. We spent several days at his parents house and his brothers and nephews came too. Caroline loved Chrismas. She learned to say "Merry Christmas", though it sounded more like "Mekismas" or "Meki Meki Meki." She was big into opening presents, and wanted to start long before Christmas, but we made her wait til Christmas eve at least.

On Christmas eve we went to church and Caroline liked the kids choir, but she also wanted to run around the whole time. Luckily, we were trapped in the balcony, so she could only cause so much trouble. Then we came home and had lefsa and sausage- the traditional Niebauer Christmas eve dinner. I enjoyed it with veggie sausage :)

On Christmas morning, Caroline actually slept in until after 8am (Christmas miracle), and then she was up and ready to roll. She excitedly opened her stocking presents. I don't think she really understands the whole concept of Santa Clause, but she could identify him at least. Once the rest of the crew was up, we opened more presents and Caroline played with her new toys. It was funny watching Caroline with her cousins. Both she and Henry wanted to open one present after another. Owen, on the other hand, was happy to open one and play with it and ignore the rest.

Among her loot this year was two tutus, tons of playdoh, trains, dolls, an annoying talking elmo that she loves (thanks again for that, mom), puzzles, letter games, and more. Man did she get a lot of toys! It will keep her busy all year long!

A wonderful Christmas had by all!
