10 months and ready to take on the world

Caroline turns 10 months old today. She is doing so great!

Her personality is really emerging- she's so joyful and fun, but a little dependent on attention (God forbid she's left alone for 10 seconds) and really doesn't like having things taken away from her (usually the remote control, a magazine, a cell phone, or some other thing she finds much more interesting than her toys). She loves to laugh- now it isn't just when we tickle her, but often when we make funny faces or laugh at her.

I've had a lot of fun watching her develop mentally. It just seems like she's understanding so much more and knows what is going on. I can't wait for her to talk more. She makes all sorts of sounds, and repeats us more and more, but doesn't say much more than mama and dada regularly. She does love to say "Ooooh!" It is too cute.

She is moving around really well- a very speedy crawler (too speedy, if you ask us!). And she's really good at cruising now too. She'll walk all the way around the coffee table, just holding on as she goes. She also does a great job of walking when holding on to our hands. She loves to test her ability to stand on her own. She'll let go, put her hands up and just rock and sway to stay up. Then she just smiles and seems so proud of herself! Usually just for 10 seconds or so, but it is a great start. So I suspect that she'll take her first steps sometime in the next few weeks.

She's really turned around on the eating front. Once we stopped trying to feed her baby food, and just gave her little pieces of food, she started scarfing it down. Sometimes she just stuffs her face like we haven't fed her in weeks. Its amazing! Fortunately, she's also gotten better at picking things up and getting them in her mouth. She eats just about anything now- she likes tomato and chicken especially. Well, I'm sure Cheerios are still her favorite, but we've really cut down on them, because thats all she wanted! She hasn't really rejected anything as long as she can feed it to herself. We've even given her some more flavorful bites of our meals, and she likes those too. We'll still feed her with a spoon on occasion- she loves yogurt- but she usually tries to steal the spoon and then gets it all over herself. We've transitioned (mostly) to formula now, and she seems to be fine with it. She's still not great with a sippy-cup yet, but she's getting better.

She is really loving all of her toys. She's into chasing balls of late. Once she gets one, she'll try to put it in her mouth (like just about everything else). And she claps and bangs objects together all the time. We're having a lot of fun playing with her and chasing her around.
She's also super cuddly when she wants to be--such a good snuggler! I love when she clings to me with both arms and nuzzles into my chest. It is too sweet. And now she holds her hands up when she wants to be picked up, which is really just irrisistable.

Hard to believe we only have 2 months until her first birthday- wow, has it flown by!

What a little star! It's amazing how fast babies learn... to think that a year ago she wasn't even born yet - Wow! It's hard to believe that this little being moving around in my belly will be doing all of those things by this time next year. Keep the updates coming!
